What is Botox?

Botox is the perfect solutions to treat and prevent fine lines, wrinkles, and deep facial furrows. It is an injectable substance of botulinum toxin type A – Onabotulinumtoxin, which relaxes the facial muscles causing wrinkles and fine lines. The drug is given through intramuscular administration that interferes with neural transmission by blocking acetylcholine release, a principal neurotransmitter at the neuromuscular junction that causes temporary muscle paralysis.

The facial muscles paralysis helps to smoothen fine lines, wrinkles, frown lines, crow's feet, and other effects of aging—the treatment results in refreshed, rejuvenated, and glowing skin, which has proven to improve self-esteem and confidence in various patients. Botox Cosmetics improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and between the eyebrows and slows down the formation of new lines by blocking muscle contraction.

The treatment with Botox is safe and effective with no downtime is associated with the procedure. The treatment procedure doesn't involve any incisions or local/general anesthesia. If you are concerned about any pain or discomfort, then a local numbing gel or ice pack can serve the purpose.

No major side effects or complications are associated with the procedure, but minor bruising, swelling, or redness may occur. Swelling usually subsides within twenty minutes of the procedure, whereas bruising can last a week after the procedure. You may also suffer headaches on the day of treatment. Other major side effects are rare and can be discussed with your provider.

Anyone having good physical health and realistic expectations from the procedure's outcome may pass the candidacy criteria for Botox injections. Still, pregnant or breastfeeding women or patients with neurological disorders should not go for Botox treatment.

The procedure of Botox administration is simple. Your aesthetic practitioner will use the fine needles to administer the recommended dose to the target areas. The complete procedure usually takes ten to fifteen minutes to get completed. The aesthetic practitioner at EverGlow Aesthetics advises their patients not to rub, massage, or apply any pressure to the treatment area for 4 hours post-procedure. Noticeable results of refreshed, glowing, and wrinkle-free skin will be obtained within two weeks post-treatment, and the effect may last up to three months—regular sessions of Botox treatment help maintain the results.
